What does it mean when someone provides a government ID?
We want you to be confident that people on Babysits are who they say they are.
One way we do that is by having the user provide a government ID. This could be a passport, identity card, driver’s license, etc.
If it says “Government ID provided” for a parent or babysitter, it means this person has successfully added a Government ID. This helps us keep Babysits secure, fight fraud, and more.
Is adding a government ID safe?
ID Verification is processed safely and securely by our partner Stripe. Whatever the reason, your ID will never be shared with anyone else who uses Babysits or any third-parties.
How is a Government ID checked?
Users capture images of physical ID documents with their desktop or mobile phone camera and send them to Babysits. Machine Learning tries to identify if the added document is authentic.
Next, users have to take a selfie. This is used to verify that the face on the identity document and the selfie match.
Completing this process isn't an endorsement of any parent or babysitter, does not guarantee someone's identity, and is not an assurance that interacting with them will be safe. Always use your own best judgment, and follow our safety tips.
